I was contracted by Dr. Molly Simon to design and build a responsive website for her teaching and research work at Arizona State University. The site provides a central location for her colleagues to learn about her work, while also hosting course material for her students. The site is equipped with a content management system that allows Dr. Simon to easily update the site text and images or add new projects and course materials without needing any knowledge of code or website building platforms. The site was designed to reflect Dr. Simon’s passion for planetary science and capture the ambience of space. In the process of designing the site, I shared Invision mockups with Dr. Simon, giving her different options for layout and color schemes and ensuring that the final product would line up with her vision before I transformed the designs into code.
The following tools were used to create the site:
– Hugo (static site building framework) to build the site
– Netlify CMS to implement the content management
system
– Invision for providing the client with design
mockups
